The Electric Travel Authorisation (ETA)
- What is an ETA
It is the Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA). It is a new requirement that allows travel to the United Kingdom, with the exception of British and Irish citizens.
All travelers, including children, entering or transiting the UK will have to apply for this authorization. It will be possible to request it from 5 March of 2025, to be able to travel with this authorization from 2 April 2025.
Visa-free travelers to the UK will need to obtain an Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA).
This permit is electronically linked to your passport and allows you to enter the UK.
- How to request an ETA
It can be requested through the UK ETA application, link attached (https://apps.apple.com/us/app/uk-eta/id6444912481) or on their government website, GOV.UK through this link (https://www.gov.uk/guidance/apply-for-an-electronic-travel-authorisation-eta)
Each traveler must apply for their own electronic authorization, including children and babies, so you can apply for it on behalf of others. You will usually know if your application has been accepted within 3 working days.
Please note that you must apply at least 3 days prior to your trip and that some requests may require more time if additional information is needed to be verified.
- Cost of the ETA
Electronic Authorization costs 10 per person. A refund cannot be obtained after the application is submitted.
1.4 How do I receive my ETA
If your application has been approved, you will receive an email confirmation, and your ETA will be electronically linked to the passport submitted when applying. When you travel, you must use the same passport.
1.5 When does my ETA expire
The ETA is valid for a period of 2 years. With it you can make multiple trips to the UK, and it will be valid for two years or until your passport expires.
1.6 What happens if my ETA is not approved
You will have to apply for:
- A visa for visitors to visit the UK.
- A temporary work visa – creative worker to come to the Kingdom as a creative worker.
- A transit visa for transit through the UK
